Unto Us...

I made a move from Florida to Massachusetts mid April. It has been eventful LOL. This is my first project in 3 months! I finally found my Gemini and a table that isn't collapsing under the weight of supplies. I have a temporary space for now but I can craft again! YEA

The theme this week at The Modsquad Challenge is CHRISTMAS IN JULY. I used one of the galaxies from my stash. This one is watercolored. I am addicted to making these. My next ones will be with alcohol inks. I have a few videos of making galaxy backgrounds.

Forever And Always

A wedding card I made using mostly the Heartfelt Creations Sweet Peony Collection

To see Sweet Peony Flower Shaping Basics wattch the video at https://youtu.be/L9_MLkvpGPQ.
Check out EZ Steps to Create Elegant Foam Flowers and Stamens  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oma6ctVmUD0

To make the card base cut White cardstock 6” X 12” and score at 6” for a 6” X 6” card. For the card topper I used a 6” X 6” Dark Pink corrugated cardstock. Cut a 5.5” X 5.5” piece of the striped pattern from the Sweet Peony Paper Collection and distress the edges. Adhere the pattern paper to the corrugated base.

For the heart layer place the large Eyelet die on Pink cardstock. Place a straight edge smaller heart die in the center to form a frame and cut. Using a slightly damp Hydra sponge, rub over the Nuvo Gunmetal Grey Mousse and dab randomly around the heart. Repeat with Nuvo Mother Of Pearl. If you wash your sponge it can be used again. Cut 2 of the curved top Medallion die from White cardstock. Glue the lacy cuts behind the heart and overlap in the center. Don’t worry about the seam, the sentiment will cover it. Place Pop dots behind the frame and adhere to the right and a little above center.

*TIP* When I get a new Heartfelt Creations collection, I always stamp numerous sets of all the stamps in various colors using the Misti positioning tool. Then you will have lots of extras to design with. For this project I used White cardstock, Foam Paper and Vellum.

Stamp 2 sets of the  Large & Small Sweet Peony stamp sets on white cardstock with Memento Rose Bud. I place the entire set in a Misti and stamp all at once. You can stamp again to get a darker color. Use a slightly damp Hydra sponge and Nuvo Peony Mousse to color the front and back of the flowers, let dry then cut with coordinating dies. The mousse gives a gorgeous metallic sheen. Shape a large flower and and a couple of buds. Refer to the Sweet Peony Flower Shaping Basics video link above.

Stamp 1 set of the Small Sweet Peony stamp set & 3 of the branch with berries from the Wildwood Florals Cling Stamp Set,  on White cardstock with Versamark and cover with Silver embossing powder,  heat set. You can also do a few small flowers with White embossing powder. Use a slightly damp Hydra sponge and Nuvo Gunmetal Grey Mousse to color the front and back of the flowers, let dry then cut with coordinating dies.

Stamp 1 set of the  Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp sets on Foam Paper using Stazon Blazing Red ink. Use a sponge dauber with Colorbox Red ink to color front and back. Refer to the video listed above - EZ Steps to Create Elegant Foam Flowers and Stamens  for shaping instructions.

Stamp 1 set of the Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp Set on Vellum with White Pigment ink and cover with White embossing powder,  heat set. Cut with coordinating dies and shape a small flower.

If you have a stamp positioning tool such as the Misti, place in all the leaves from the Large & Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp sets and the swirly leaf from the Classic Rose Cling Stamp Set. Stamp on White cardstock with a dark green ink. Use the Stack and Store Daubers to sponge on a lighter green such as Memento New Sprout. Stamp and color all this 3 times and cut with coordinating dies. You will have extra Peony leaves. Shape slightly on the back  using the Flower Shaping stylus.

Adhere all the flowers and leaves as shown. Start with the swirly Rose leaves then the flowers. Tuck in the rest of the leaves as desired. Dries Clear adhesive works well but a glue gun is quicker. But the Dries Clear gives you the chance to lift a flower for leaf placement, I use both.

Cut the sentiment from the Classic Wedding Paper Collection and mat onto a strip of the Pink corrugated cardstock. Curl slightly and tuck and adhere under the large peony. Now just dab on some glue and randomly add some Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear and Glass Shards. I also added a few crystal drops

Spring Time Box

The Box I made for the coordinating set of cards I made.

For more tips on coloring and flower shaping with vellum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy0_MkkXRb8

For more tips on creating with the Sweet Peony Collection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9_MLkvpGPQ&feature=youtu.be

To start with we need a box with a lid to fit 5” X 7” cards. I used a cut file but you could buy a box or use a template. Finished size is 5.25” X 7.25”.  Cut a 5” X 7” background for the box top. I used a lovely blue woodgrain from the Wildwood Cottage Paper Collection. We will assemble the entire design on this base.

Cut the center frame from White shimmer cardstock using Cut Mat Create 2A.  Center the Cut Mat Create 1B rectangle die in the center and cut. 1B is the same die you use to cut the image for the frame. This image is from the  Classic Petunia Paper Collection. The sentiment is also fussy cut from the  Classic Petunia Paper Collection.

Cut 2 of the Medallions from the Decorative Medallion Die set and adhere to top and bottom of the background panel using Designer Dries Clear adhesive. Add pop dots to the white frame and adhere to the center of the panel. Glue the image in the center of the frame.

Stamp the bunny, butterfly and bird from the Woodsy Critters Cling Stamp Set, color and cut with coordinating dies.

All the flowers are made from vellum, stamped with Versamark and White embossed. Except for the Coral, it was embossed with Coral. You will need to stamp a total of 5 sets of the Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp Set with Versamark. and Coral embossing powder to 1 set and White to 4 sets. Heat set all. Also stamp 2 sets of the Large Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp Set with Versamark and White emboss. Cut 2 sets of all the leaves from both the Large & Small Sweet Peony Cling Stamp Sets, White embossed. Cut all with the coordinating dies.

Lay out your flowers and decide on layers and sizes and colors. Color the backside (not embossed side) with alcohol markers (Copic V17, YR65, BG09, YG45). You could also use the Stack and Store Daubers and sponge on ink. For shaping tips watch the video above for more tips on coloring and flower shaping with vellum. I used mostly Heart Of Gold Prills for the peony centers and a few medium stamens on the tiny flowers.

For the finishing touches I added a mirror dragonfly and rhinestone flourish. Curl the sentiment banner slightly and adhere. Adhere the flowers and leaves as shown. I found hot glue was the easiest with vellum.

Before we add the panel to the box top let’s decorate the sides. I cut 5 of the borders from the Sweetheart Borders die. Apply Designer Dries Clear glue to 1 strip at a time. Start with a scallop overlapping a corner and continue around the box. If your box has finger holes just trim the lacy border.

Add a generous amount of double sided tape to the box top (or adhesive) and add your finished panel to the box carefully. Designer Dries Clear will give you some wiggle room.

Heartfelt "Easy Mail" Card Set

I made a set of four 5X7 cards to go inside a box I decorated.I made this using the New Heartfelt Creations Sweet Peony collection.

Start with a  5" x 7" white card base. Cut 2.5" off the front and repeat for all four cards.

Cut 4 pieces of vellum 3" x 7", also cut 2 - 2.5" x 7" panels of background paper that coordinates with your flower colors for each card. I used background paper from Sweet Peony, Classic Petunia and Wildwood Cottage paper collections.

Stamp the whole set of Peony Bud and Blossom stamps. Stamp each of the flowers and buds with the flower color. I used Memento Dye Ink Pads,  Lulu Lavender, Tangelo, Teal Zeal & Rose Bud. All the leaves on the buds were stamped with Memento Green Moss.  Also stamp 8 of the swirly leaves from the Classic Rose cling stamp set using Moss Green. I added some of the Peony leaves stamped in Moss Green and some on vellum embossed in white (leftovers from other projects) to a couple of cards.

Color with the medium you like. I used Arteza, a watercolor marker in colors that matched the stamping. Arteza has no color names.  The Rose leaves were sponged using Stack and Store Daubers and a combination of Memento Moss Green and New Sprout. Once colored, cut everything out with the coordinating dies. Color the back of the right side petals of the large Peony since it will be seen through the vellum.

Select sentiments for each card and sponge edges with the flower color. I used several collections. Also cut 6 of the Decorative Medallion Die from white cardstock. Select about 16" of coordinating ribbon for each card.

To assemble the cards, start with gluing a pattern background to each card front. I use Designer Dries Clear Adhesive. Next, open the card and apply glue or double-sided tape to the card front edge. Place the vellum to line up with the inside outer edge. Hold vellum in place and close the front to adhere the vellum. Now adhere the inside background panels to each card.

The ribbon will hide the seam. To hide the ribbon seam we will place the end under the large flower on the front. So carefully place double-sided tape to the front seam about 3" from the bottom, right at the edge of the pattern paper. Wrap the tape over the bottom edge and on the backside. Continue by wrapping tape over the top and on the front, almost meeting the starting point. Pull off the protective paper from the tape on the bottom section. Place the ribbon just a tiny bit over the background paper edge. Flip the card upside down and open it. pull back the tape from the back. Continue placing ribbon carefully. Be sure it lines up exactly with ribbon from the front. Flip to the front and add the ribbon to meet the starting point.

To prepare the inside, glue down a Decorative Medallion to the right bottom edge of each card. Cut the corners off the 2 extra Decorative Medallion (enough to cover the top corner (not needed if making a A2 sized card). Glue on the corners. Don't worry, the seams won't show.

To finish the front, glue down the leaves top & bottom then add the small bud then the large Peony as shown (before gluing, check the inside to see if you need any more color on the back of the flower). To finish the inside, glue down the large bud in the top corner then glue on the small Peony. Sponge the sentiment edges and apply as shown.

My envelopes had a V flap so I decorated with the large Corner Blossom die. The large die from Sweetheart borders works great if your envelop has a straight edge.

I was just playing around with my Zigs. I thought I was usig Bristol Smooth paper bbut I wasn't, oops. I kept going and still got a usable card LOL. I used Gina K Designs Rose Bouquet and my favorite sentiment from Painted Autumn. First I stamped and heat embosses the the Roses with white. I colored loosely with Zig Real Color Real Brush pens the sprayed with LOTS of water. I did not use watercolor paper so it really curled. Once dry, I set under heavy books for a few days, then I stamped the sentiment.

Festive Storage

I made this can over the holidays. I decorated it with primarily Heartfelt Creations die, stamps and paper.

Instructions:
I started by using an alcohol blending tool and several shades of green alcohol inks to paint the lid and rim. Cover the can with a lightly patterned paper. I used a snowflake design and glued on with Dries Clear glue.

Birdhouse-Front: Stamp Cardinal Haven Stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black two times. Color the house and ornaments with Copics. Copics used on house: E11, E13, E17 Reds: R24, R27, R29. Ornaments: Y35, Y38, G12, G28, B24, B26 R24, R27. On the second stamped image color only the heart and cardinals. Cut with the coordinating dies. Add Snow Marker over snow areas and heat set. Cover the ornaments and the heart with Glossy Accents. Once the heart is dry add a DDot and attach to the birdhouse. Also add a DDot to the cutout birds and attach to the birdhouse.

Stamp and color a few branches without birds from Festive Holly & Cardinals Die. Cut with coordinating dies. Cut a small fence for the front panel. Add 3D Foam Circles  to the back of the birdhouse and stick to the front of the can. Glue a couple of the holly beanches behind it. To finish the front add a small fence at the bottom.

Snowman-Back: For the back of the can stamp the Frolicking Snowman with Memento Powder Blue. Add shading using Copic B21, c4, C2, C0, 0. Color the hat and scarf with R24, R27, R29. Add the buttons with Nuvo Berry Red.  Use a Versamark Pen to coat the skate blades and heat emboss with Ranger Silver embossing powder. Apply a light layer of glue randomly over the snowman's body and add Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear for a sparkling snowman.

Using Snow Kissed Spruce Cling Stamp Set, stamp 2 large trees, 2 medium and 1 small in green . Sponge on color using 3 shades of green.  I used Gina K Jelly Bean, Grass Green and Asparagus.

Snowbank: Cut a curved snowbank for the snowman to stand on to cover half the can. Apply a generous amount of glue to cover and coat with White Flower Soft.

Glue the trees across the back of the can and stagger them. Also place higher than the bottom since there is a snowbank. Adhere the snowbank to the very bottom.

Fussy cut a large tree with cardinals for one side of the can from the Festive Holly Paper Collection.  Add a Snow Marker to the snow on the trees and heat set, it will puff up.

Watch this tutorial for tips on using the Festive Holly collection https://youtu.be/bDfKmxrqYjI.

Use Glossy Accents to adhere the lace to the edge of the lid.

Top Of Can: Stamp Large Sparking Poinsettia and all the Sparkling Poinsettias stamps using a Stazon Red ink onto Foam Paper. I used a sponge and Colorbox Red ink to cover all the flowers. Cut with the coordinating dies. Shape with a heat gun.

Check Emma Lou’s video to see how  to Create Elegant Foam Flowers and Stamens  /FSdPL7nXvQE

After the foam poinsettia is shaped and assembled, edge the petals wit a gold stamp paint, I used Pebeo Studio Irridescent Gold 350. I also added small white stamen cut short and glued to the center and added Prills (any color). Once glue is dry, paint the stamen and Prills with the Gold Pebeo 350.

Paper Flowers: Stamp the Large Sparking Poinsettia and all the Sparkling Poinsettias on white paper with Versamrk ink and heat emboss with WOW Red Glitter embossing powder. Also stamp a set of Poinsettia & Holly Clusters Die using Colorbox Red ink. Color with a sponge and red ink. Stamp the holly in a dark green and sponge the color with a lighter green. Cut all the flowers with their coordinating dies.

Place the large and regular size poinsettias printed side down in the 3D Basics mold, spritz with water and run through die cutter. Place the Poinsettia clusters in the Poinsettia 3D mold. TIP: You can layer flowers in the mold, just spritz each layer.

For more tips on creating with the flower shaping molds, watch the tutorial at https://youtu.be/FSdPL7nXvQE.

Use Glossy Accents to adhere the lace to the edge of the lid.

Cut 2 sets of Lacy Ariana dies from White cardstock. Also cut a circle a little smaller than can top from White to assemble the flowers onto. Now all the pieces are ready to assemble on top.

Use the white circle to glue the top centerpiece together. Start with gluing 3 of the Arianna Lace cuts to cover the entire lid. Fill in all the open spaces with the small accents from Arianna Lace dies. It should resemble a large lace doily. Glue the foam poinsettia in the center and add the leaves. Take 3 small red embossed poinsettias and glue a completed mini poinsettia

Friendship

I made this for my housekeepers birthday.  It was pretty easy especially now that Heartfelt Creations have new flower shaping molds. I used a die cut for the shutter card.

Project open flat size is 5.5"X8.5" closed size is 4.5"X5.5"

Cut your cardbase. I used a shutter card SVG file (I made for you Silhouette Studio cut file and a SVG file you can download). You can embellish the panels with patterned paper. I used a lacy die from Crafters Companion shutter card set.

Stamp the Classic Rose using Colorbox Scarlet. Sponge all the petals with Colorbox Rouge and Colorbox Red. The leaves are stamped with and colored with Colorbox Green and Moss. Cut with the coordinating dies. Place all the pieces into the 3D Rose mold and run through the die cutter.

Once dry assemble. I added a little Copic RV25 to the petals to better match the inside flowers. Add a light coat of glue and sprinkle with Rajni Chawla's Crystal Clear. Once dry add a thin coat of Nuvo Crystal clear.

For more tips on creating with the Classic Rose collection, watch the tutorial at  http://hcgo.co/ClassicRose. Also check out creating dimensional roses https://youtu.be/Z8P070kC3oo.

For the front arrangement layer a dark pink and a light pink Lacy Arianna Blooms die cuts. Place 2 at the leaves top and bottom as seen and top with the rose. Tuck in a few pearl embellishments.

Stamp and color the two vines with roses from Classic Rose Vines stamp set and cut with coordinating dies. Copics used are YG05, YG63, RV13, RV25, R45. Coat with Nuvo Crystal Clear or  Glossy Accents. When dry glue to the inside of the card. Cut a sentiment from any Heartfelt Paper Collection, sponge the edges,  curl the center and adhere to the card.

Sending Sunshine

I made this card using Heartfelt Creations, stamps die and a new 3D mold. I experimented with coloring the leaves with Nuvo Mouse. I loved the shiny look.

Instructions:
1. Cut a cardbase out of navy cardstock, 6" X 12" scored at 6" and set aside.

2. Now let's cut out all the pieces we need except the flowers.
  • 6"X6" navy corrugated cardstock
  • 1 - 5.5"X5.5" striped pattern and one light blue 4”x4.5” from Coffee Talk Paper Collection
  • 1 Dark brown and 1 white frame die from Everyday Heros die set. Take the circle piece and cut out the center of the frame.
  • Cut 1 banner from Everyday Hero die set, from navy corrugated paper and 1 from white (trim off 1/8' on all sides of the white piece).
  • Cut leaves from the Small Camelia Carnation 2 times from Navy Corrugated cardstock. This gives you 4 leaves. I used the larger leaf.
  • Cut one white piece of the circular die in Raindrops on Roses die set
  • Cut the Spellbinder border die (Parisian Accents)  2 times from a tan pattern paper
  • Cut the long branch and small one with berries 2 times from X-Cut Leaves die set.

3. Apply Nuvo Cosmic Brown with a slightly damp sponge to the edges of the 6"X6" navy corrugated first layer. Also using a damp sponge very lightly apply the Nuvo Mother of Pearl Mouse over the striped paper to mute it just a bit.

4. Using the Tim Holtz Burlap stencil add  Nuvo Cosmic Brown in three corners.
5. Distress the edges of the striped layer and the center light blue layer. Apply the Nuvo Cosmic brown Mouse to the distressed edges with the sponge.

6. Add the Spellbinder Parisian Accents Border cut to the top and bottom of the small layer then apply a small bit of Nuvo Cosmic brown Mouse to the edges.

7. Glue the white frame to the back of the brown frame. Cut the lattice piece to fit behind the frame opening and adhere. Sponge the frame by dabbing a light layer of Nuvo Mother Of Pearl and Nuvo Cosmic Brown on the brown frame. Add Dots to the back of the frame around the circle and adhere the focal frame to the center of the smaller layer. Also glue the banner on top of the corrugated banner. Gently bend the banner over a stylus to slightly curl the banner, set aside. Add double-sided tape behind the striped layer and the smaller  layer. Add to the navy corrugated layer.

8. Stamp the Ariana Blooms flowers 2 times. I used Colorbox Copper and a stamp positioning tool. I left the stamp in to re-stamp after coloring. Using a damp sponge I lightly colored 1 set of flowers with Nuvo Cosmic Brown and 1 set with Nuvo Powder Blue Mouse. Place the flowers back in the stamp positioner and stamp over the color to darken the edges. Cut with the coordinating die.

9.  Place the pedals in the 3D Basic Shaping mold unstamped side down, lightly mist with water. Add another layer of flowers and spritz again. Place the top on and run through your die cutter. All I did was press the centers using the Stylus 6mm and 8mm tips from the Delux Flower Shaping Kit.

10. Assemble the flowers and add Prills. For my main flower I used a large blue petal then finished with Cosmic Brown petals and Lemon Prills. For more tips on creating Gorgeous Arianna Blooms, watch the tutorial athttps://youtu.be/60GVPQAPp3As.

11. Finally arrange your flowers and leaves on the card as shown. Attach the topper to the card base.
