Simple Pleasures

Happy Easter everyone! I made a simple card using a sponged background and a Cheery Lynn Exotic Butterfly die. I don't have a video today but will explain the process:-) This was made for my Dies R Us Design Team project

I started with a piece of precut Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I was practicing different sponging tools and paper. I was pleasantly surprised how well the Distress Inks (Cracked Pistachio, Broken China and Mustard Seed) went on with a mini distress tool. Normally I have a difficult time using the distress tools for sponging. I applied the yellow mostly in the center. The other colors were applied randomly. Then I spritzed heavily, waited about 30 seconds and dabbed off. This helps cover any blending that isn't smooth.

I used a textured stamp and Versfine gray ink randomly in the background. I also used Cracked Pistacio Distress ink and stamped some foilage slightly for texture. I have a closeup before I added the splatters and butterfly but I lost it:-( So here is a closer look at the background. You can't really see the foliage.

I used Kuretake Gold paints and splattered the background with 3 shades of gold. Then added the Cheery Lynn - Exotic Butterfly Medium cut from some glimmer paper and added pearls.

I used a yellow cardbase with a black mat.

Spring Card Diecuts & Brushos

Hi, Joyce here with a fun and cheery spring card. Yellow is not usually one of my favorite colors but I've been loving the yellow Brusho paints. This is a quick and easy card using the Weeping Willow tree from Poppy Stamps. If you happen to have a stash of pre-colored and cut images it is even faster. When I have time I like to stamp and color new stamps then put aside for later use. That way they actually get used:-)

The background is done on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I sprinkled on Brusho powders and sprayed with water. See the video for step by step demo. The Poppystamps - Dies - Weeping Willow Tree  was cut from watercolor paper as well. This die doesn't require a Sizzix Precison Plate to cut well on regular paper. BUT on watercolor 140# I did use the Sizzix Precision Plate for the extra pressure and ran through 4 times. It fell out and cut great! You can see the results in the video. I then added brown Brusho and painted the trunk and large branches. I used 2 shades of green for the leaves.

I stamped the Penny Black sentiment using a stamp positioner so I could stamp multiple times to get a good impression. Seeing it is the rough side of watercolor paper it did require 3 or 4 times.

I glued the diecut to the background and added the flowers and bird from my Heartfelt creations stash.

Dies R Us Design Team Wedding Card

Today I made a card for the Dies  R Us Design Team.  I am thrilled to be a part of this awesome Design Team! I will be featuring Cheery Lynn dies today. I used a die that fills the whole card.

I

I cut the Cheery Lynn Designs - Wedding Vows from white cardstock (a light pink shimmer paper that changes colors as it moves  for second card) The small butterfly is cut from the shimmery paper. I love the intricate  border and arch around the silhouette.

The blue card is made in the video. I simply layered over blue glitter paper and added a butterfly. I embellished around the arch top with some pearls. The dress has little white and silver micro beads and some Distress glitter. I added a few tiny pearls at the dress top. The I DO is chipboad I found in my stash. I painted, added Stickles then silver glitter.

For the pink version I cut the Cheery Lynn Designs - Wedding Vows from a light pink shimmer paper that chages colors as it moves and depending on what it's near. It did make photographing challenging LOL. The small butterfly is cut from the same kind of paper only a bit darker. I love the intricate  border and arch around the silhouette.

I added a bit of patterned paper behind the arch. Since the color was a bit dark, I covered the paper with vellum. To finish it off I added some ribbon flowers, a silver strip and pearls. It is all mounted on white shimmer cardstock.
