Christmas Dimension

I am sure everyone is in full Christmas card mode by now. I made a non traditional card using some great rubber stamps. I made this for a Challenge at The Modquad Challenge site. The challenge this week is to use Dimension. The sponsor is Designs by Ryn

The background is done using Brushos. The stamps used are listed below. I had a hard time making the seahorses pop:-) I added some Shaved Ice fragments from Stampendous to try to help them stand out. In real life they are more noticeable. This is the smallest stamp in the set. Maybe the larger one would have been better. But hey, it's Christmas and I wanted a pair:-) The Joy is a die cut. The fish and shells are fussy cut from Heartfelt Creations Under The Sea collection.

First Shaker Card

OK, second shaker if I count the one I helped my granddaughter with. I used Lawn Fawns Snow Globe stamps and dies. I didn't have any white foam yet so I used yellow, darn it. It shows so I tried to make it blend in by using  the same color on the sentiment plate LOL.

Another fall card. I used the leaf (Stampendous) I colored with Zig markers, a Anna Griffith die cut that I cut last year LOL. My favorite stamp from the GinaK Designs "Painted Autumn" stamp set.

Best Day

I made this card for a friend - just because:-) I loved this stamp when I frst got it and inked it up right away. Mostly to see how it fit an A2 card. I really wanted to layer some intricate dies so I ended up making it 5X7. The background is silver mirror cardstock and the largest die from Sue Wilson Australian Background is glued on. The intricate center is popped up. I silver embossed the sentiment which is Spellbinders stamp Make it your best day designed by Tammy Tutterow

Gate Fold & Medallion Take 2

I'll be introducing you to a few new Spellbinder Christmas dies. Two new dies were perfect for finishing off my Milan Medallion card. There is also a new Christmas Tag die set. Then I will show you a second way to use the Venetian Gatefold dies. These are the two cards completed today.

Starting with the base and Milan die cuts I added a Sparkling Poinsettia by Heartfelt Creations & used the Poinsettia dies.I stamped with Versamark on 2 different shades of red cardstock and embossed with Gold embossing Powder. I also did a set on white with Red glittery embossing powder. I ended up using the dark red with one medium layer of the lighter red.

I cut 2 strings of Twinkle Lights and various colored bulbs. I cut and embossed leaves from Jolly Holly.  I glued the lights on the two stands and cut off one bulb and adhered over the top of the card. I tucked some of the string of lights under the die cut corners. I also added two Holly leaves under the flower.

I cut out samples of the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Christmas Die: Christmas Tags.
I embossed as well so the words showed up. I also sponged a little white ink to bring out the words a bit more.

I did another gatefold card using Venetian Gatefold dies. I wanted to do one using the side of the die that doesn't cut as a hinge. Instead of cutting the gates and gluing on I cut through the base card which is 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" scored at 2 1/8" from each end of the 8 1/2" sides.
Position the NON cutting edge against the fold on the right side. To align I butt the top right  corner against the cutting blade and tape down.

Then the other side place die under the flap and butt fold against the top cut line.

The card cut:

All that's left is the closure. Since I am unable to tie bows I decided to use Velcro this time. I found 1/2" clear circles...perfect! I glued on a gold embellishment to a diamond shaped scrap from the gates cut. A piece of green organza was adhered to the back of the card and the enclosure glued to one end.

Quick & Easy Using Renaissance Jubilee Dies

I made 3 cards using Spellbinders NEW Designer Series Renaissance Jubilee Dies. I will also show one die from Seth Apter.

Here are the two main cards I made. Be sure to watch Gate Fold & Medallion Take 2 as well.

First up is Label 56 Decorative Element dies  by Stacy Caron Designs. This die coordinates well with Spellbinders Label 56 Decorative Accent dies & Label 56 dies. The large die has a nice edge that embosses.

I cut a cardbase 4 1/4" X 11" and scored at 5 1/2". Using a dot embossing folder I embossed a piece of white 4" X 5 1/4". For this Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle I didn't need to emboss since it is mostly covered. But if you use a more open layering piece, try the embossing to add interest. I used pop dots for the blue and the sentiment area, added some peach pearls and s flower from my stash. I cut a piece from Arianna Lace dies from Heartfelt Creations to place under the flower.

Next up is the Milan Medallion dies . This is large 5.8 die that can be turned in any direction. I cut a card base 6"X 12" scored at 6". I couldn't find my Christmas paper pads so I used a piece of foil wrapping paper and glued to the card front. I simply layered the large and medium die cuts and will later add a poinsettia in the center and a die cut sentiment.

This next die is called "Citrus Slice " from Seth Apter. It has citrus like cuts. I think this would work well as texture in a multimedia piece.

The last set for today is Venetian Gatefold dies. These are designed to exactly fit each side of a gatefold card which is 2 1/8" X 5.5" on each side. The base is 8.5" X 5.5" scored at 2 1/8" on each side. For the gate I cut and trimmed he 2 gates then lined it up to the fold line and bottom. This way if my center cut is a tad off (mine was:-) the gate would hide it. You could also place the side of the die that does cut in the center against your 2 1/8" fold line on each side. For this option it is cut from the base so I'd line the inside with designer paper. I like a belly band or closure on a gate fold card. I have difficulty working with a bow or string so I added a brad to the center piece from the Label 56 Decorative Element dies set. I glued 1/2 of the accent to one side. Then just wrap string around the jewel. All I had was gold but silver string would look good here I think.

Featuring New Spellbinders

I am introducing two new die sets, Spellbinders Art Nouveu Floral & Sea Life Accents Dies. I made two QUICK & EASY cards using these dies.

I started out using a background I made from my stash. I've been on a mission to use them LOL. This one is a dotted background inked with several colors and spritzed with water then stamped.

I used this frame from the Spellbinders Water Lilies Decorative Accent dies set and placed at an angle.

I cut the largest flower from the Nouveau Florals dies set  out of green cardstock.

I tested a wide strip for the sentiment but didn't like it so I changed it up and embossed with Calypso Coral embossing powder from Stampin! Up. It was adhered with Crafters Companion Vellum adhesive.

Watercolor Background

I used watercolor paper and my Kuretake Gansai Watercolor paints. The price is so much better now! I paid $50 for 36 set now only $28.37. I do recommend getting the 36 because it includes some gorgeous iridescent gold and silver.

My favorite brushes are the Silver Velvet because they hold water well and keep a nice point.

Forest Scene Hero Arts Multi-Step Deer

In this video I will demo the Spellbinders Water Lilies Decorative Accent dies and frame a forest scene. I also use Sizzix Tim Holtz Holiday Greens and a new Hero Arts layered stamp. I saw this deer and just had to make a card with it. I also introduce a new stamping tool by Clarity. This is the card I will make:

I started by stamping a 4 step deer for my scene. I did one without the antlers but step 3 & 4 weren't recorded so my second version I did antlers:-)

1 2

This is a new tool for me...Clarity stamping blocks. It came in a set of different sizes. I really like the small ones for tiny stamps. It is thin and light with a handle to hold on to. I use to stamp little holly leaves and berries around the antlers to cover a not perfect placement of the antlers:-)

I used the Spellbinders Water Lilies Decorative Accent dies and used the large outer frame in a dark green. The coral color is a sample of the shapes the dies cut.

4 5

I used a so so background from my stash. I did this on a cruise a few years ago and the paint was really bad LOL. But it works for this scene since I cover most of it. I wanted all the frame interior open so I cut the center out with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics

I used Sizzix Tim Holtz Thinlits Die Set 4PK Holiday Greens and cut one from a gold shimmer cardstock, 1 from scrap designer paper and 1 dark green.

I position everything to decide on placement. I then glued on the greens and trimmed even with the background. Mount the background piece on a honey mustard cardbase 11"X 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/5". I adhered using Angel Craft tape. Finally using pop dots I added the deer.

Kraft & White

I love Kraft cardstock and white for Christmas cards. Today I make a peek a boo card where you see a white embossed tree using Gina K Designs stamps, through a window cut out using Sue Wilson's Australian Background die.

I started with a Kraft base of 11" X 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2" I cut a strip of pattern paper 4 1/4" X 1 1/2". Glue the patterned paper somewhat centered. Lay the decorative die over the area I want a window. Then add the die to cut the center out.

screen-shot-2016-09-14-at-3-14-07-pm      screen-shot-2016-09-15-at-2-46-14-pm

Use a pencil to draw the window area on the inside of the card. Position the stamp in the window area and ink with Versamark. Cover with white embossing powder and then heat set it.

Stamp the sentiment on the front below the window with VersaMark. Cover with white embossing powder and heat set it.

I did a trial run of a bow, ribbon flowers and sequins then took a photo. I didn't care for the bow so I went with sequins and 2 ribbon flowers.

This is the inside. I added a sequin on top.
