All That Glitters

I made these cards for a challenge at The Mod Squad Challenge. The sponsor is Designs By Ryn and I used her stamps. I love her extremely deep etched red rubber stamps! They stamp great!

First up are the 2 doves in the Celtic Dove set. The doves background is a stencil and I added texture paste. Before it dried I added glitter to it (and all over me), then layered on a pale green glitter stock and a white card base. I used a vellum strip over the glitter paper and embossed in silver.Celtic Dove Set.

For the stars I stamped in white pigment ink and colored using a Fantastix stick (a coloring tool) and the same white ink. The little embellies are the Celtic Star and Celtic Dove stamped on shrink plastic! It shrunk much more then expected! Stamps used were   Celtic Star 4

Lung Cancer Awareness Month

I made these cards for a challenge at The Mod Squad Challenge for  Lung cancer awareness month in support of my friend Roxanne Sahlin.

The challenge is to use Silver & or Pearl. This first card uses a stamp set by Melanie Muechinger called Triple Play. Easy peasy with this stamp set. I stamped the frame with Versamark and embossed with silver, then embossed the words and hearts. I added the ribbon and pearls from my stash. I used a card base that is pearlized and don't recall where it came from. It is not heavy enough as it bows in the center, I may end up lining it. I am spoiled with the weight of Gina K Pure Luxury paper.

For this card I used another of Melanie's frames called Festive Frame. Embossed in white on the silver card and silver on the white pearl flower.Fussy cut out the flowers added some pearls and adhered to white pearl card base.

Winter Penguins

I made this card for the Winter & A Die challenge at The Mod Squad Challenge. Sunny Studios is a new company and sponsor. They have the most adorable penguins. I had the blue squares already painted and waiting before the stamps arrived. Well they are bigger then expected LOL. It was a lot of fun dressing them up!

I made a second card using Snow Kissed set. The shaker was made using the We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool.

Go For The Gold

Sandy Allnock did a free 7 day class this week using all kinds of gold products. Be sure to check out Sandy's blog if you missed it. I really wanted to participate each day but was unable to. So I picked one of my favorites and made it today. Plus being World Card Making Day I just had to make at least one!

I used Inka Gold, spread it on my mat and sprayed with water. I then added red and blue Brushos. I smudged it on my was a mess! But in real life the gold shimmer is awesome.

The deer stamp is from I Brake for Stamps and embossed in gold. It didn't show up as well as I had envisioned so I colored some brown with the Zig markers. The sentiment is from Gina K Designs.

My 4 year old granddaughter wasn't getting left out! She saw a black card with colorful ghosts with wiggle eyes on Facebook while I was browsing. I didn't want to use ghosts so I cut a bunch of colorful shapes and let her go for it.  All I helped with was the writing and the glossy accents to adher eyes. She loved the Wink Of Luna pen and the Stickles. Of course the wiggle eyes stoles the show!

Anything With Wings

I am hosting the challenge this week at The Mod Squad Challenge blog. Be sure to check it out. There are 2 sponsors with prizes of stamps...not digi but real stamps! The theme is "Anything With Wings". Here is the card I made using stamps from  Designs by Ryn

I made the background on Stampinback coated paper, added Brushos and spritzed with water. I then stamped the Sideways Hibisus and Flying Humming Bird 2 with Versafine Onyx ink (water proof). I removed some color from the bird and flower using bleach and a Q-tip. Coloring was done with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

Using Stazon Jet Black ink (for non-porus surfaces) I stamped on some acetate from packaging I saved. Once dry I cut it out and colored with Stickles Diamond. I used rolled up glue dots to adhere over the bird. It looks amazing in person, hard to see in photo.

It's Fall!

I am hosting the challenge this week at StampTV. The theme is fall. Well, fall starts this week!

Here is the card I made to celebrate fall:

This layout is pretty versatile. You can use the same layers and stamp leaves instead of acorns, or pumpkins. I embossed the back panel with the woven from We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder. I stamped tone on tone for the leaves then die cut.

Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury
The sentiment is from  GKD "Heartfelt"
The acorns are from GKD So Grateful

Lavender & Lace

I made this for a challenge at Modsquad challenge Lavender & Lace hosted by Judy Woodland.

This week our sponsor is the wonderful stamp company Kitchen Sink Stamps.

These stamps are amazing. Most have a multi-stamp feature that lets you get great detail in your images using several colors. There is real dimension with a 3-D effect! And one of the best features of this stamp company is that there are color recipes for most of the multi-step stamps, so you don't have to guess what colors to use. There are even alternative colors if you don't have the inks that are suggested.

Maria from Kitchen Sink Stamps is a member of our Mod Squad Challenge Facebook Group so feel free to say Hi or ask any questions.
$25 GIFT CERTIFICATE to the store. You can pick your own goodies and there are a lot of choices!

Flowers Designs by Ryn

I posted this card for the Mod Squad challenge last week but neglected to share here. I am down to one hand for a few weeks so cards will be sparse. I made this before surgery.

My Card uses the Flowers  set from Designs By Ryn stamped on GKD Pure Luxury Eddible Eggplant and the base is GKD Wild Wisteria cardstock.

I heat embossed with Ranger Platinum and watercolored with Kuretake watercolors and Zig Real Color Real Brush markers and topped with Wink Of Stella. The swirly stamp is from the Sea Bubbles set. The sentiment is a die cut. A much darker card then I normally do but I wanted to play with the metallic watercolors:-)

I white embossed the first set below and colored with homemade H2O's (mica powder and gum arabic). The second set was gold embossed and watercolored with Zig markers.

Using Tissue

I am hosting the challenge at StampTv this week. The challenge is to use tissue any way you'd like. It can be tissue paper, kleenex tissue. toilet tissue...

This is the card I made for the challenge:

The stamps I used were Melanie's Pressed Flowers (Gina K Designs). I also had to use some of the new Gina K ink and paper. I used Dusty Rose ink and paper and Jelly Bean Green ink and paper. The sentiment "Smile" is a canvas embellishment from an incentive package and ribbon from my stash.

I stamped the flowers on the tissue paper then crumbled it and glued onto a card front (leaving in the wrinkles). Using a word stencil I added some pearlescent texture paste and distressed the edges.

I did this card for the Mod Squad Challenge this week, Water or Sky. Kitchen Sink Stamps is the sponsor. I used the lighthouse image and rock and sentiment from KSS multi-step lighthouse.

I used glossy cardstock for this and layered the ink colors. For the lighthouse I used the color recipe from KSS website. These stamps are so easy to line up...I am impressed! White highlights added with a malfunctioning Signo gel pen.

I made this card for a friend that hasn't been feeling well. The background is done using Brusho crystals on Strathmore watercolor paper. I used Versamark to stamp the images, The mermaid is from Stampendous and the water drops and swirls are from Designs By Ryn. The sentiment is from By The Sea (Gina K). I colored the mermaid with Zig Watercolor pens and added Stickles to the legs. I added white highlights to the bubbles with Copic white and a paint brush.

Rainy Day

I have been playing with my "Water Effects 1" stamp set from Designs By Ryn. She is sponsoring a couple of challenges at the Mod Squad Challenge. The first one is past but she will be sponsoring again on August 12 with a set of "Flowers" as the prize for a RANDOM winner! These are really high quality rubber stamps...I love them.

So here is my first attempt at the water drops:

The background was Brushos remains, LOL from an experiment I made using Yupo paper. I just pressed a manilla tag into the run off from the Yupo paper. I didn't care for the muted look until I realized it would be a great rainy sky. I added white gel pen dots and Wink Of Stella to the rain drops.

DYI Stamp Geni

Make your own stamp positioner to fit your budget!

I have been thinking about this for awhile now. But recently I had a bad experience with (the owner) of a very expensive stamping tool. As a result I decided to no longer promote or support it but I needed an alternative to show in screenshots and videos. I have a couple of cost friendly alternatives.

What is a stamp positioner? You may be familiar with the "Stamp-A-Ma-Jig" which allows you to line up your stamp. In theory you should be able to re-stamp in the exact same location. This usually gives mixed results.

1. Stamp Positioning using Stamp-A-Ma-Jig

See how to use HERE (StampTV)

Amazon (afilliate)

2. Using a magnetic mat

This one was zero cost since I had all the bits. The pink is a We R Memory Keepers magnetic mat with the ruler. I've had it for a long time and just used it under my craft sheet. This way it is being used for what is was meant for. I found some other size mats which I will list. They have teal now instead of pink, boy is that tempting. Notice my desk color LOL. The tan paper you see is a paper washi tape folded over the magnet with a tab. Actually my 2 magnets are stuck together here LOL.

1. Mat or a magnetic sheet. I have tested using the vent cover magnets I got from Home Depot (very inexpensive)

2. Positioner, I had one from my Position-It tool. I found a really great price on a positioner and a block which I will show below

3. Glue Neodymium Magnets under the positioner to keep it stable. Mine are 3/8"X1/8". I tested this portion to see if the 1/16" I have would hold it securely and it did not. But 2 together did. I also measured a clear stamp and it clears a 1/8" magnet.

4. Foam, thick enough to be higher than the magnets and to butt up against the positioner. I have 2 fun foam sheets here.

5. Plastic quilters template grid

6. Stamp block, this is a Tim Holtz one. For me it is too long so I will use the one with the new positioner I ordered. I like the thin ones because they are lighter. I made a handle out of clear tape.

Get a piece of masonite cut to size (Home Depot will cut) and sand the edges. Paint if desired. Glue the positioner into place. Glue a piece of magnetic sheet to size desired.

This is not magnetic. The video shows how to assemble.
Video for Position-It   Amazon for purchase

The positioner is held in with pegs. You could add a magnetic sheet and plastic grid. The footprint is large  10" by 11-1/2" but some want the large size:-)

The photo is my completed one. I added the magnet on top of the Position-It then added a piece of foam and topped with a quilters grid. I used the 6X6 acrylic sheet that came with the tool. I glued on the suction cup handle since it didn't stick very well. I am using this since Ican't handle a block. You see wooden pegs in the positioner because I lost the clear ones:-)

A Facebook friend made one she calls "Cupid". Her YouTube video is HERE. She uses the Cuttlebug  All In One embossing folder. This is the one I made. The white is a magnet. then a quilters grid on top.

I appreciate your comments very much! Ask questions etc. but PLEASE DO NOT mention any other tool except DYI (or I will delete the comment). This is a DYI stamp positioner.

Shaking Things Up!

I am hosting the Monday challenge at StampTV this week. The theme is to make a shaker card. I don't make many shaker cards but I was inspired by a layout Kristina Werner did.

I did not do the normal add foam strips bit. I used a page protecter and Scor tape. It can also be sealed with a empty hot glue gun or a "We R Memory Keepers Fuse" tool. I won't spend $26 on a tool I know I will rarely use. It looks great if you happen to do Project Life.

I stamped and masked my images and colored with Alcohol Markers then die cut using my largest circle. I also die cut the white frame using my largest and second largest circle dies.

I cut the base of 4.25" X 11" and scored at 5.5" from Pure Luxury Turquoise Sea. The other piece I cut to have 2  4.25" X 5.5" pieces.

Using the second largest die I cut from one of the smaller pieces of the Turquoise Sea then embossed it. Then on the other smaller piece of Turquoise Sea, I positioned the colored image and glued on.

I used the corner of my page protector so I only had to seal 2 sides and made a rectangle large enough to more than cover the circle. I added the Scor tape and sealed only 1 side, filled (I used some Stampendous Shaved Ice and sequins) then closed up the top.

I used Scor tape to adher the edges over the colored image. I also adhered the cut and embossed layer using Scor tape on the outside edges and top (any where the plastic was) and did the rest with Tombow Xtreme tape runner. With the 2 pieces adherred I added the white frame and rounded the bottom corners. Adhered all to a Turquoise Sea base and rounded the bottom corners.

I used stamps from several sets.
The dragonfly came from GKD "Spring Blessings"
Leaf, swirly flower and butterfly came from GKD "Warm Spring Wishes"
The sentiment from GKD "Frame and Flowers 2"
The tiny flower from GKD "Triple Play Frame"

Happy Birthday Challenge

This week the Mod Squad challenge is to make a birthday card. I challenged myself to start using some of my supplies that haven't been used so I finally used my Copic air gun!

It is a prize week at the Mod Squad, with a Gina K Designs grab bag!

Here is the card I made using my Copic air gun. I'll link to the little compressor I found that works great! I simply sprayed over a stencil then stamped and colored the cake. Added some bling and done.

First Date

This is the card I made for the STAMPTV CHALLENGE (I am hosting this week). The challenge is "First Date" - use something in your stash for the FIRST time!

Have you ever watched a video and saw a cool technique and you just had to buy the supply...then forget why you bought it? I sure have! I have a set of Portfolio Oil Pastels that I haven't used for at least 6 months. I don't recall what I wanted to do with them but this week I found a cool technique to try. Basically I used yellow, green and orange on white cardstock. I then covered it all with red. I placed a stencil over it and removed the red with a wipey.

Here is my card

Gina K Flower Builder stamp set
Pattern Paper Delicate Essentials

Version 2

Here are the images of the steps. I randomly co;ored yellow, green and orange. I covered it all in the opposite direction with red (not a heavy coat). Using a star burst stencil, I layed it over the piece. I used a wipey to remove the red in the stencil openings.

Mix It Up

This week at the Modsquad Challenge we were to use 2 or more stamps from different sets. It is a PRIZE week, and Melanie Muenchinger from Hands, Head and Heart is giving away 5 Gina K Design Duo sets.

This is the card I made.
I filled in the frame borders with strips of glitter paper from DCWF and added printed glitter strips to the main areas.

The frame and flower is from "Triple Play" Gina K Designs
Sentimet is "Mosaic" Gina K Designs
Butterfly is from "Whimsical Spring" Gina K Designs
Ink is Gina K Chocolate Brown.

The sets I used are currently out of stock but will be in stock very soon! I will link to the store so you can come back if you want to order but be sure to browse Melanies's site. At Hands. Head and Heart. She has some great videos!
